Prof. Sahib Singhਜੋ ਨੌਕਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰੇ (ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝੋ, ਕਿ) ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਖਸਮੈ ਭਾਇ = ਖਸਮ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ।

ਹੁਰਮਤਿ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਅਗਲੀ; ਓਹੁ ਵਜਹੁ ਭਿ ਦੂਣਾ ਖਾਇ ॥
huramat tis no agalee; ohu vajahu bhi doonaa khaae |
Sant Singh Khalsahis honor increases, and he receives double his wages.
Manmohan Singhhis honour is magnified, and he receives double the wages.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਭੀ ਦੁਗਣੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teeka(ਹੁਰਮਤਿ) ਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਟਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ (ਅਗਲੀ) ਬਹੁਤ ਹੋਤੀ ਹੈ ਔਰ (ਵਜਹੁ) ਦੁਮਾਹਾ ਭੀ ਦੂਣਾ ਖਾਤਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਪਰਾਰਬਧ ਕੋ ਭੋਗਤਾ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਤਾਂ ਬੜੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਦੂਜੇ ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਭੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦੂਣੀ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹੁਰਮਤਿ = ਇੱਜ਼ਤ। ਅਗਲੀ = ਬਹੁਤੀ। ਵਜਹੁ = ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ, ਰੋਜ਼ੀਨਾ, ਵਜ਼ੀਫਾ।

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਾਰਾਜਗੀ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ ਜੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਵਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀ ਹੀ ਉਠਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਗਲਾ = ਪਹਿਲਾ, ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਸੀ। ਮੁਹੇ ਮੁਹਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਉੱਤੇ, ਭਾਵ, ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉੱਤੇ। ਪਾਣਾ = ਜੁੱਤੀਆਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਲਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਜ਼ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੀ ਫਬਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
