Prof. Sahib Singhਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਵਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ = ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੀਏ ਤੇ ਆਖੀਏ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ = ਇਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ। ਵਡੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ = ਬੜੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਗੁਣ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਣ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਹਿ = ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ, ਸ਼ਹੁ ਨੇ। ਮੇਲੇ = ਮਿਲਾਏ ਹਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ)। ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ = (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ) ਦਿੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਸਤਕਿ = (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ। ਵਿਚਹੁ = ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਾਨੋ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੮॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਹਿ ਤੁਠੈ = ਜੇ ਸ਼ਹੁ (ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਤ੍ਰੁੱਠ ਪਏ। ਨਉਨਿਧਿ = ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ, ਭਾਵ, ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ। ਪਾਈਆ = (ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ) ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧੮। ❀ 'ਨਉਨਿਧਿ (ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ)' ਬਾਰੇ ਨੋਟ: ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ 'ਕੁਬੇਰ' ਦੇ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੰਨੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਇਹ ਹਨ: महापद्मश्च पद्मश्च, शंखो मकर कच्छपौ ॥ मुकुन्दं कुन्दनीलाश्च खर्वश्चनिधयो नव ॥ ਇਹ 'ਕੁਬੇਰ' ਧਨ ਦਾ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੰਨਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਕੈਲਾਸ਼ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਕੋਝਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ; ਤਿੰਨ ਲੱਤਾਂ, ਅੱਠ ਚੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਪੀਲਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ। ਸ਼ਬਦ 'ਕੁਬੇਰ' ਦੇ ਅੱਖਰੀ ਅਰਥ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਹਨ: 'ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਕੋਝਾ ਹੈ।' कुत्सितं बेरं शरीरं यस्य ॥॥੧੮॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੁਚੈ = ਸੁੱਚੇ ਚੌਕੇ ਵਿਚ। ਕੋਇ...ਜਾਇ = (ਜਿਸ ਭੋਜਨ ਨੂੰ) ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਅਜੇ ਭਿੱਟਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਜਜਮਾਨ) ਉਹ ਭੋਜਨ ਲਿਆ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੇ ਭਿੱਟਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੁਚੇ ਅਗੈ ਰਖਿਓਨੁ = (ਉਹ ਭੋਜਨ) ਇਸ (ਨ੍ਹਾ-ਧੋ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ) ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ) ਸੁੱਚਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ (ਸੁੱਚੇ) ਭੋਜਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਖਾ ਕੇ) ਸਲੋਕ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ;

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜੇਵਿਆ = ਖਾਧਾ। ਲਗਾ ਪੜਣਿ = ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Fareedkot Teekaਤਿਸ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਕੋ ਜਠਰਾਗਨਿ ਸੇ ਪਚਾਇ ਕਰ (ਕੁਹਥੀ ਜਾਈ) ਭ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਸਥਾਨੋਂ ਮੇਂ ਮਲ ਰੂਪ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤਿਆਗ੍ਯਾ। ਅਬ ਇਹ ਕਹੋ ਕਿ ਅੰਨ ਕਾ ਵਹੁ ਦੋਸ ਕਿਸ ਕੋ ਲਗਾ, ਉਸੀ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੋ ਲਗਾ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਰ ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਨੂੰ) ਗੰਦੇ ਥਾਂ (ਭਾਵ ਢਿੱਡ ਵਿਚ) ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਨੂੰ) ਗੰਦੇ ਥਾਂ (ਸੁੱਟਣ ਦਾ) ਦੋਸ਼ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ?

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੁਹਥੀ ਜਾਈ = ਕੁਥਾਂ, ਗੰਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭੰਡੁ = ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ। ਭੰਡਿ = ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤੋਂ। ਜੰਮੀਐ = ਜੰਮੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿੰਮੀਐ = ਨਿੰਮੀਦਾਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੰਗਣੁ = ਕੁੜਮਾਈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਖੈ ਆਪਣਾ = (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ) ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, 'ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ,' ਭਾਵ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਮਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ = ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਮਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ = ਅਦਾਲਤ। ਕਲਮ = ਭਾਵ, ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ)। ਹਮਾ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮੇਲੁ = ਸਾਰੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ)।
