ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਭਾਨਾ = ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਚਾਉ = ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਰਿ = ਮਰ ਕੇ, ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਰ ਕੇ, ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ। ਜੀਵੇ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ। ਭਾਉ = ਪ੍ਰੇਮ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪਸਾਉ = ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ, ਕਿਰਪਾ। ਮੁਕਤੁ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ।

Sant Singh KhalsaThe people of the world do not like death; they try to hide from it. They are afraid that the Messenger of Death may catch them and take them away.
Manmohan SinghThe man in the world likes not death and ever conceals himself from it, lest the Death's courier should catch and take him away.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਪਾਊਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਵੇ।
Fareedkot Teekaਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵੋਂ ਕੋ ਮਰਣਾ ਅਛਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਤਾ। ਨਿਤ ਅਪਨੇ ਆਪ ਕੋ ਜਮ ਸੇ (ਲੁਕਾਇਆ) ਛਿਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ ਮਤ ਕਹੀਂ ਜਮ ਪਕਰ ਲੇ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੋਇ, ਭਾਵ ਜਮ ਨਾ ਪਕੜ ਲੇ ਜਾਵੇ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਮੌਤ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, (ਹਰ ਕੋਈ) ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਜਮ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਨ ਜਾਏ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਗਿ = ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ। ਮਰਣੁ = ਮੌਤ। ਭਾਇਆ = ਪਸੰਦ ਆਇਆ। ਆਪੁ = ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ, ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ। ਮਤ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ = ਕਿਤੇ ਲੈ ਨ ਜਾਏ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਧੁਰਿ = ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਸੋਹਾਇਆ = ਸੋਹਣਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਨ = ਭਗਤ-ਜਨ। ਉਬਰੇ = ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਹਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਧਿਆਨਿ = ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਮਾਇਆ-ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ) ਜਗਤ (ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ) ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਲੱਗ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਉਪਜੈ = ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਿਨਸੈ = ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਗਿ = ਲੱਗ ਕੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਅਸਥਿਰੁ = ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੩॥
