ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪੰਖੀ = ਪੰਛੀ, ਜੀਵ-ਪੰਛੀ। ਬਿਰਖਿ = ਰੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ, ਸਰੀਰ-ਰੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ (ਵੱਸਦਾ)। ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ। ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪੀਵੈ = ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਹਜਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ। ਉਡੈ ਨਾ = ਉੱਡਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਭਟਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਆਵੈ = ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਜੰਮਦਾ। ਜਾਇ = ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਮਰਦਾ।
