* ਭਾਵ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ।

Fareedkot Teekaਜੈਸੇ (ਦਸਨ) ਦਾਂਤੋਂ ਸੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੋ ਸਰਪ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕਾਟਣੇ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੈਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜਤੀ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਜੋ ਦਾਂਤੋਂ ਕੇ ਕਾਟਣੇ ਸੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਤੀ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੋ ਗਾਰੜੂ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਵਰਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੈਸੇ ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਸਰਪ, ਭਾਵ ਹੰਕਾਰਾ ਭਾਸੁ ਹੈ, ਰਾਗ, ਦ੍ਵੈਸ ਦਾਂਤੋਂ ਸੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਤੌ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜਤੀ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੇ ਹੈਂ। ਔਰ ਜੋ ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੀ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੋ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਸਰਪ ਕੇ ਰਾਗ, ਦ੍ਵੈਸ ਰੂਪ ਦਾਂਤੋਂ ਕੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਹੂਏ ਕੋ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਕ ਰੂਪੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਚੜਤੀ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸੇ ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਗਰੁੜ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਦ-ਹੀਣ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ (ਸੱਪ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਨੂੰ) ਮੰਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦਸਨ = ਦੰਦ (दशन = a tooth। दंश्ह = to bite)। ਭੁਯੰਗੰ = ਸੱਪ (भुजंग = a serpent)। ਗਾਰੁੜੀ = ਗਰੁੜ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦਾ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਦਾ ਜਾਣੂ (गरूडं = a charm against snake = poison)।

* ਭਾਵ: ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

* ਭਾਵ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ-ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੋਖ = ਵਿਕਾਰ (दोष)। ਪਰੰ = ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ। ਤਿਆਗੀ = ਤਿਆਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਬਣਨਾ)। ਦ੍ਰਿੜੰਤਣ: (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਨਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨੨॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਸਤਕਿ = ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (मस्तक = ਮੱਥਾ। मस्तके = ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ)। ਲਿਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣ: ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਲੇਖ ॥੨੨॥
* ਭਾਵ: ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਜਾਣੋ ਜੋ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭੂਤ ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਭਵਿੱਖਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹੋਯੋ = ਜੋ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸੀ। ਹੈ = ਜੋ ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਹੋਵੰਤੋ = ਜੋ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਹਰਣ = ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ। ਭਰਣ = ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸੰਪੂਰਣ: ਵਿਆਪਕ।

* ਭਾਵ: ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਮਾਇਆ-) ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਦੇ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ) ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਿਹਾਂ-ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੁਖੇਣ = ਸੁਖਦਾਈ। ਬੈਣ ਰਤਨੰ = ਬੋਲ ਰੂਪ ਰਤਨ (वचन, वअण)। ਰਚਨੰ = ਮਸਤ ਹੋਣਾ। ਕਸੁੰਭ ਰੰਗਣਃ = (ਮਾਇਆ-) ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਦੇ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ।

Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਹੇ ਪੰਡਤੋ! ਸੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਵਿਯੋਗ ਕਰ ਰੋਗ, ਸੋਗ ਕਰ ਗ੍ਰਸਤ ਰਹਿਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਤਿਨੋਂ ਕੋ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਮੇਂ ਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ॥੨੪॥☬ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਮੌ ਨਾਮ ਨਗਰ ਮੇਂ ਬਿਵਾਹ ਕੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਛੰਦ ਸੁਨਾਏ ਹੈਂ। ਇਸ ਛੰਦ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਫੁਨਹੇ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਫੁਨਹੇ ਛੰਦ ਮੇਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਜੀਵੋਂ ਕੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਸੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਹ।ੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਜੀ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ:
Prof. Sahib Singhਰੋਗ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ (ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਦੇ ਹਨ)। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਖ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੨੪॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੋਗ = (शोक) ਚਿੰਤਾ। ਬਿਓਗੰ = ਵਿਛੋੜਾ, ਦੁੱਖ। ਸੁਪਨਹ = (स्व्प्ने) ॥੨੪॥
* ਭਾਵ: ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ। * ਨੋਟ: ਸਹਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਸਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਥਾ ਦਾ ਟੀਕਾ ਅਗਸਤ ੧੯੫੫ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਤੰਬਰ ੧੯੬੩ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਟੀਕੇ ਦੀ ਸੁਧਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।
