Sant Singh KhalsaThe Pandits, the religious scholars and the silent sages read and recite until they get tired. They wander through foreign lands in their religious robes, until they are exhausted.

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀਹ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ = ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਇਆ) ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਓਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ = ਰਜੋ ਗੁਣ, ਤਮੋ ਗੁਣ, ਸਤੋ ਗੁਣ (ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਾਣ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਧਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ 'ਰਜੋ'-ਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਈਰਖਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੀਵੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ 'ਤਮੋ'-ਗੁਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾਨ ਪੁੰਨ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢੇ-ਜਿਗਰੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ 'ਸਤੋ'-ਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਨ ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ = ਕੋਈ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ। ਗੁਨਣਾ = ਵਿਚਾਰਨਾ ॥੧॥
