Prof. Sahib Singhਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਹੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮੋਹਿ = ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸ ਕੇ)। ਖੁਆਇਆ = (ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ) ਖੁੰਝ ਗਿਆ। ਖਾਇ = ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੋਭ (ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ) ਹਲਕ (ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ) ਹੈ (ਕੁੱਤਾ ਆਪ ਭੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਭੀ ਨੂੰ) ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਨਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਤਰਿ = ਅੰਦਰ। ਬਿਬੇਕ = (ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ) ਪਰਖ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ। ਭਰਮਾਇਆ = ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ = ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ। ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ = ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਯੋਗ। ਸੈਸਾਰਿ = ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ (ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹੈ)। ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਪਰਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਫਿਰ ਉਹ) ਖੋਜ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤ = ਤਾਂ, ਤਦੋਂ। ਉਲਟੀ ਹੋਵੈ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੁਰਤ ਪਰਤਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ = ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਲਹੈ = ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਊਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਆਪੇ ਨਾਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੋਂ ਕੋ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਕਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਮੇਂ (ਸਮਾਏ) ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੇਤਾ ਹੈ॥੪॥੯॥੧੯॥☬ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦਿ ਕੀ ਸਾਖੀ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕੀ ਭਗਤ ਵਤਸਲਤਾ ਦਿਖਾਵਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਜੈਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਹੂਆ ਅਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੀਏ। ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਭਾਗਵਤ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਕੇ ਸਾਤਵੇਂ ਸੰਕੰਧ ਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਿਧ ਹੈ। ਤਿਸ ਕੋ ਸੰਖੇਪਤਾ ਸਹਿਤ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਜਬ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਸੰਡਾ ਅਮਰਕ ਪਾਂਧੇ ਪਾਸ ਪੜਾਵਨੇ ਹੇਤ ਬਠਾਇਆ ਤਬ ਉਨੋਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਕੀ ਪਟੀ ਲਿਖ ਕਰ ਪੜਨੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦੀਨੀ। ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਨੇ ਕਹਾ:
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੯॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਦੇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਮਿ = ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੯॥
