Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ, ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਭਾਰਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਜੰਗਲ ਬਣਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ;ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ = ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ। ਨ ਸੁਨੀਐ = ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ। ਤਹ = ਉਥੇ। ਭਇਆਨ = ਭਿਆਨਕ, ਡਰਾਉਣਾ। ਉਦਿਆਨਦ = ਜੰਗਲ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਤੇ, ਜਿਥੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੰਗ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਐਸਾ ਬਾਗ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ) ਸੰਘਣੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ ॥੨॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ = ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ। ਰਸੁ = ਸੁਆਦ। ਸਘਨ ਬਾਸ = ਸੰਘਣੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ। ਫਲਾਂਨਦ = ਫਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਭੀ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ, (ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਰਖ = ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ। ਜੀਵੈ = ਜੇ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ। ਸਗਲੀ = ਸਾਰੀ। ਅਉਧ = ਉਮਰ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਿਮਖ = {निमेष} ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਸਮਾ। ਜੀਵਾਨਦ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਊਣ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ (ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ (ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਾਂ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ = ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਪਾਵਉ = ਪਾਵਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਾਂ। ਦੀਜੈ = ਦੇਹ। ਕਿਰਪਾਨਦ = ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ = ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ। ਬਿਧਿ = ਢੰਗ। ਜਾਂਨਦ = ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥
