ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਖੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਜ਼ਹਰ। ਠਗਉਰੀ = ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਮਾਇਆ। ਮੂਠੋ = ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਚਿਤਿ = ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਾਥੀ ਵਾਂਗ (ਫੁੱਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਛੁਪਿਆ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੁਪਤ = ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ। ਨਿਆਰੋ = ਵੱਖਰਾ। ਮਾਤੰਗ = ਹਾਥੀ ॥੩॥

Fareedkot Teekaਹੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਮੈਂ ਹਾਥ ਜੋੜ ਕਰ ਆਪ ਕੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਆਇਆ ਹੂੰ, ਭਾਵ ਸੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰੀਏ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨੯॥☬ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੂਏ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ:
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ) ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨੯॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਰ = ਹੱਥ {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਜੋਰਿ = ਜੋੜ ਕੇ। ਗਪਾਲ = {ਇਥੇ ਪਾਠ 'ਗੁਪਾਲ' ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸਲ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਹੈ 'ਗੋਪਾਲ'}। ਅਪਾਰ = ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨੯॥
