ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਹਵਾ = ਜੀਭ। ਰਸਿ = ਰਸ ਵਿਚ। ਅਘਾਇ ਰਹੀ = ਰੱਜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਉਹ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਦਾ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਧੀਕ ਵਧੀਕ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਸਹਾਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰੈ = 'ਮੈਂ ਮੈਂ' ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, 'ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ, ਮੈਂ ਸਿਆਣਾ' = ਇਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
