Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ;ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨੂਆ = ਅੰਞਾਣਾ ਮਨ। ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ = ਧੀਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ = ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ। ਗੀਧੇ = ਗਿੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਵੇਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਬਾਲ ਬੜੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਣ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਬੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਥਣ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਲਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ = ਛੋਟਾ ਬਾਲ। ਰਸਕਿ = ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ। ਥਨਿ ਮਾਤਾ = ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਣ ਉੱਤੇ। ਥਨਿ ਕਾਢੇ = ਜੇ ਥਣ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ। ਬਿਲਲ ਬਿਲੀਧੇ = ਵਿਲਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ (ਸਦਾ) ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ = {ਨਿਰ-ਅੰਜਨੁ। ਅੰਜਨੁ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ} ਪਵਿੱਤਰ। ਨਰਹਰਿ = ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ। ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ। ਪ੍ਰੀਧੇ = ਪ੍ਰੋਸ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਿਕਸੀ = ਨਿਕਲ ਗਈ, ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਜਲਿ = ਜਲ ਨਾਲ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਜਲਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ। ਨੀਧੇ = ਨਾਤੇ, ਆਤਮਕ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੩॥
