Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੀ (ਅਖੀਂ) ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਹ ਮਨ) ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜਦਾ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੋ = ਰੱਜਦਾ। ਜੋਬਨਿ = ਜੁਆਨੀ ਨਾਲ। ਧਨਿ = ਧਨ ਨਾਲ। ਬਹੁਰਿ = ਮੁੜ। ਧਾਇਆ = ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
