Sant Singh KhalsaThe self-willed manmukh is cowardly and ugly; lacking the Name of the Lord, his nose is cut off in disgrace.

Prof. Sahib Singhਮਨ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡਰਾਕਲ ਤੇ ਬੇ-ਸ਼ਕਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਰੂਪੁ = ਭੈੜੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਾਲਾ, ਭੈੜ-ਮੱਥਾ, ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਾਲਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਜ਼ੀਏ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਏਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

Sant Singh KhalsaO Nanak, if he becomes Gurmukh, then he shall be saved; otherwise, he is held in bondage, and suffers in pain. ||1||
Manmohan SinghNanak if he is resigned to Guru's will, then, is he saved, otherwise, he is bound and suffers pain.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਨਾਨਕ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਬੱਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਨਰੜੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਸੋ ਜਬ ਮਨਮੁਖਤਾ ਕਾ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਹੋਇੰਗੇ ਤਬ ਬਚੇਂਗੇ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤੋ ਪਕੜੇ ਹੂਏ ਜਮ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਂ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਸਹੈਂਗੇ॥੧॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਜੰਜਾਲ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੱਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
