Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਰ ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਦਾਨ-ਪੁੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਧਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਕਾਜਿ = ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਭਰਣ = ਗਹਣੇ। ਕਾਮਨਿ = ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ। ਥਾਟੁ = ਬਣਤਰ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਸਮ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗਹਣਿਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਗੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

Fareedkot Teekaਜੈਸਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਮਜੂਰ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ ਧਾਨੋਂ ਕੇ ਤੁਹ ਕੋ ਮੂਸਲ ਸੇ ਛੜਨੇ ਕੋ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵ ਜੀਵ ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਸੁਖ ਕੀ ਇਛਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੁਖ ਰੂਪ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਭ ਕਰਤਵ ਬਿਅਰਥ ਹੋਤੇ ਭਏ ਹੈਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ (ਇਹ) ਮਜੂਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ) ਮੂਹਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਹ ਹੀ ਛੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

Fareedkot Teekaਪੁਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਵਿਗਾਰੀ ਕੋ ਬੋਝਾ ਉਠਾਵਣੇ ਸੇ ਖੇਦ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੈਸੇ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵ ਕੋ ਤਿਸ ਵਿਗਾਰੀ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈਂ ਖੇਦ ਭਯਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਸੇ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਕਸਟ ਸੇ ਸੰਚਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਖ੍ਯਾ ਮੇਂ ਤਤਪਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖੇਦਵਾਨ ਰਹਿਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰੰਤੂ ਵਹੁ ਧਨ ਪਰਾਏ ਬੋਝੇ ਵਤ ਘਰ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਨ ਆਵਤਾ ਭਯਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਕਾ ਸਾਧਨ ਨ ਹੂਆ ॥੩॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਾਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਗਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਗਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਰਾ) ਕਸ਼ਟ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮਜੂਰ ਦੀ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਗਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਗਾਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਖੇਦੁ = ਦੁੱਖ। ਨਿਆਈ = ਜਿਵੇਂ। ਘਰ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ = ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣਾ) ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ = ਕਿਰਪਾ। ਜਾ ਕਉ = ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਉਤੇ। ਕੋ = ਦੀ। ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ।
