Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕੁੱਲੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭਲੀ = ਚੰਗੀ। ਸੁਹਾਵੀ = ਸੋਹਣੀ, ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ। ਛਾਪਰੀ = ਕੁੱਲੀ। ਜਾ ਮਹਿ = ਜਿਸ (ਕੁੱਲੀ) ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਿਤ ਹੀ = ਕਿਤੁ ਹੀ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਕਿਤੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਕਾਮਿ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ। ਧਉਲਹਰ = ਪੱਕੇ ਮਹੱਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ (ਸਹਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ) ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ) ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੰਗਿ = ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ। ਚਿਤਿ = ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ = ਸੜ ਜਾਏ। ਬਡਪਨਾ = ਵਡਿਆਈ, ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਗਰੀਬੀ ਵਿਚ) ਚੱਕੀ ਪੀਹ ਕੇ, ਕੰਬਲੀ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪੀਸਨੁ = ਚੱਕੀ। ਪੀਸਿ = ਪੀਹ ਕੇ। ਓਢਿ = ਪਹਨ ਕੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ ਰੇਸ਼ਮੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨਣੇ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ) ਲੋਭ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪਟੰਬਰ = ਪਟ ਦੇ ਅੰਬਰ, ਰੇਸ਼ਮੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ। ਰਚਿ = ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ॥੩॥

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ; ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
