Prof. Sahib Singh(ਉੱਤੇ) ਜਮਰਾਜ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਹ ਗਿਣਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਨ-ਤਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਘਟਦੀ ਚਲੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ = ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗਿਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਵ = ਉਮਰ। ਬੇਤਾਲਿਆ = ਭੂਤਨੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ, ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਤੋਰ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ। ਸਾਸ = ਸਾਹ (ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ)। ਜੀਵਨ ਕਉ = ਜੀਊਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਲੰਮੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਉਹੀ ਬਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥
