Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਂ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਉਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਲਏਂ,
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਉਖਧ = ਦਵਾਈ। ਅਉਖਧ ਮੂਲੁ = ਦਵਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਦਵਾਈ। ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੂਲੁ = ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ। ਏਕੈ = ਇਕ ਹੀ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ। ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ = ਪੱਕਾ। ਰੇ = ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ = ਤਿੰਨੇ ਗੁਣ, ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਵਿਰਤ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ। ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ = ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਪੰਡ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਚੁਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਸ਼ੱਕਰ ਖੰਡ ਵਰਗੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਨਿ = ਤਨ ਵਿਚ। ਪੰਡ = ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਪੰਡ। ਉਚਾਈ = ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਲਜੁ = ਉਮਰ ਦੀ ਲੱਜ। ਮੂਸਾ = ਚੂਹਾ, ਜਮ, ਬੀਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਸਮਾ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਸੋਭਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ = ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੇਤਾ = ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੋ (ਨਿਯਮ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨਿਯਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੂਹ (ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ) ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੁਭਰ = ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ।
