Prof. Sahib Singh(ਤੇਰੀਆਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੰਨ ਭੀ (ਹੁਣ) ਸੁਣਨੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਸੁਹਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਭੀ) ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ;ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ = ਕੰਨ। ਸੁਨਿ ਥਾਕੇ = ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਸੁਣਨੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ, ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਕਾਇਆ = ਸੁਹਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ।

Fareedkot Teekaਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਨੇ ਜਬ ਅਵਾਜ ਦਈ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਜਬ ਕਾਨੋਂ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ ਧੌਲਾ ਕੇਸ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਮਾਨੋਂ ਸਬਦ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਆਈ ਖਬਰਦਾਰ ਹੋਹੁ। ਵਾ ਜਰਾ ਕੋ ਹਾਕ ਦੀ, ਭਾਵ ਕਿਸੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਬੁਢਾਪਾ ਆਗੇ ਜੋ ਜਾਵੇ। ਕਲਫ ਲਗਾਉਣੀ ਧਾਤੂਆਂ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਐਸੇ ਕਰਤੀ ਸਭ ਬੁਧੀ ਥਕਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਏਕ ਮਾਯਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਨਾ ਥਾਕੀ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ) ਚੌਪੜ ਉਹ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਪਾਸਾ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣਾ-ਇਹ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਚੌਪੜ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਸਾ ਸੁੱਟਣਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਚਉਪੜਿ = ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ-ਰੂਪ ਚੌਪੜ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ। ਜਿਣਿ = ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ। ਢਾਲੇ = ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ, ਢਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਾਨਿ = ਜਾਣ ਕੇ, ਸਮਝ-ਸੋਚ ਕੇ, ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ। ਭਜਹਿ = ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਬਿਗਤ = {Skt. अव्यत्तत्र् = Invisible} ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਰੂਪ) ਪਾਸਾ ਸੁੱਟਣਾ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ॥੪॥੪॥* ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ: ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਜਾਈਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦਿਨੋਂ ਦਿਨ ਵਧਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। * ਨੋਟ: ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ 'ਸੂਹੀ' ਤੇ 'ਲਲਿਤ' ਦੋਹਾਂ ਮਿਲਵੇਂ ਰਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।
