Prof. Sahib Singhਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੱਤਪਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ;
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ = ਜਾਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਗਿ = ਜਾਗ ਕੇ, ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ। ਮੈ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ = ਮੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਦੋਂ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਸੇਕ ਕੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਲ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ (ਜੋਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਚੁ = ਸੇਕ। ਕਾਚੁ = ਕੱਚ। ਢਹਿ ਪਾਂਹੀ = ਢਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਖਸਮ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਿਮ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Fareedkot Teekaਜੈਸੇ (ਨਾਨੀ) ਛੋਟੀ ਸੀ ਬੂੰਦ (ਪਵਨੁ) ਪੜਨੇ ਸੇ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਕਾਗਤ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ਜਾਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਤੁਛ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਕਸਟ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਸੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰ ਚਤਰਾਈ ਬਿਗੜ ਜਾਤੀ ਹੈ, ਪੁਨਹ (ਖਿਨੁ ਤਾਈ) ਸੀਘ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਜਨਮਤਾ ਮਰਤਾ ਹੈ॥੪॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਾਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸੀ = ਨਿੱਕੀ ਜਿਹੀ। ਪਵਨੁ = ਹਵਾ, ਹਵਾ ਦਾ ਝੋਲਾ। ਪਤਿ = ਸੋਭਾ, ਸਜਾਵਟ। ਖੋਵੈ = ਗਵਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਖਿਨੁ ਤਾਂਈ = ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ॥੪॥

Fareedkot Teekaਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੋਂ ਕੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਤੋ (ਸੂਝਸਿ) ਅਨਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਔਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਕੀ (ਬੂਝਸਿ) ਗ੍ਯਾਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਤੀ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਸਚਾ ਗ੍ਯਾਨੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਂ ਸਮਾਇ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੈ। ਆਤਮਾ ਅਨਾਤਮਾ ਕੋ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਜਾਨ ਕਰ ਮਨ ਮੇਂ ਅਪਰੋਖ ਗ੍ਯਾਨੁ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ॥੮॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਜੇ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਾਰੇ) ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਟਿੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਸਚ ਗਿਆਨੁ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ॥੮॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਦੇਹ = ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਸਰੀਰ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਤੇ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਗਤ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਜਾਗ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਣ ਤੇ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਖੁੱਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਪੱਲੇ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੯॥੨॥
