ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੁਣਿ = ਸੁਣਹੁ। ਭਾਈਹੋ = ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਛੂਟਨੁ = (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ। ਨਾਇ = ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ)।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ) ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਗੈ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਮੰਨੀਅਹਿ = ਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੁਣ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਪੋਸ਼ਾਕ ਹੋ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ (ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ), (ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ) ਸਾਹ ਨਾਲ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ (ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਾਸਿ = (ਹਰੇਕ) ਸਾਹ ਵਿਚ। ਗਿਰਾਸਿ = (ਹਰੇਕ) ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ। ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਤੇ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ। ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ = ਉਹ ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਦਾਤਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ, ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ) ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਿਸੁ = ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੂੰ। ਤਾ = ਤਦੋਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪੂਰਬਿ = ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ। ਸੇਈ = ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ। ਧਿਆਇ = ਧਿਆ ਕੇ, ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ।

Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਜੋ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਗੁਰੋਂ ਕੀ ਸਰਣ ਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਭਏ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਆਵਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ॥੪॥੩੦॥੧੦੦॥☬ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਖਨ ਦੇਸ ਮੇਂ ਗਏ ਤਹਾਂ ਕਾਜੀ ਔਰ ਪੰਡਤ ਮਿਲ ਕਰ ਆਏ, ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਆ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਭਗਵਨ! ਏਹ ਮਨ ਅਤੀ ਚੰਚਲ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕੋ ਭਜਨ ਮੇਂ ਕੈਸੇ ਜੋੜੀਏ, ਪੁਨਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਔਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਔਰ ਸ੍ਵਰੂਪ ਤਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਕਥਨ ਕਰੀਏ, ਕਿ ਵਹੁ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਕੁ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ? ਤਿਸ ਪਰ ਉਨ ਕੋ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸਹਤ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਅਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ਮੇਂ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰੀ:
