Sant Singh KhalsaStubborn-mindedness will not win the Lord to one's side, no matter how much it is tried.

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਦ, ਜਿੰਨੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਉਹ ਪਿਆ ਕਰੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿੱਤ ਸਕਦੀ।
Fareedkot Teekaਜੇਕਰ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਹਠ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੀ ਤਪ ਕਰੇ, ਤੋ ਆਸੁਰੀ ਸੰਪਤੀ ਕੀ ਤਰਫ ਜੋ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀਤੀ ਜਾਤੀ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰੇ, ਰੱਬ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਾਸਾ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ;
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹਠਿ = ਹਠ ਨਾਲ। ਜਿਪਈ = ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਹੇ ਨਫਰ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਤਿਨ ਆਸਰੀ ਗੁਨੋਂ ਕੀ ਤਰਫ ਕੋ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਜੀਤਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ (ਸਬਦੁ) ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਕੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਦੇਵੇ ਪੁਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਕੇ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ) ਪਾਸਾ ਜਿੱਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਭ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਣੈ = ਜਿੱਤਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਤ ਭਾਉ = ਚੰਗੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ, ਨੇਕ ਨੀਅਤ। ਦੇ = ਦੇ ਕੇ। ਤਰਫ = (ਰੱਬ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪਾਸਾ ॥੪॥
