ਸੂਹੈ ਵੇਸਿ. ਪਿਰੁ ਕਿਨੈ, ਨ ਪਾਇਓ; ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦਝਿ ਮੁਈ ਗਾਵਾਰਿ ॥

soohai ves. pir kinai, na paaeo; manamukh dajh muee gaavaar |

Sant Singh KhalsaBy wearing her red dress, no one has found her Husband Lord; the self-willed manmukh is burnt to death.
Manmohan SinghThrough the red-robe of mammon, none has attained to her Groom and the unwise apostate is burnt to death.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੱਤੇ ਲਿਬਾਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੰਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਅਧਰਮਣ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਇਸ ਚੁਹਚੁਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਮੋਹ ਪਾ ਕੇ) ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ, (ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਸੜ ਮਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ = ਚੁਹਚੁਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੇਸ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਾਉ। ਦਝਿ = ਸੜ ਕੇ। ਗਾਵਾਰਿ = ਗਵਾਰਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ (ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਮਜੀਠ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਰੱਤਾ ਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ = ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ) ਸੋਹਜ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਭਾਗ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਘਰਿ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਸਹਜਿ = ਸਹਿਜ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਤੀ = ਉਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚਿਖਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੜ ਮਰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਆਖੀਅਨਿ = ਆਖੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਮੜ = ਲੋਥ, ਲਾਸ਼।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਹੇਲੀਆ = ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ। ਕੰਤਾ ਨਾਲਿ = ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਖਸਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ {ਨੋਟ: ਜੀਵ-ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ 'ਕੰਤ' ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਾ ਸਕਦਾ। "ਕੰਤ" ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ; ਮਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ "ਮੜ" ਵਰਤਿਆ ਹੈ; ਵੇਖੋ ਸਲੋਕੁ ਨੰ: ੧}। ਸੇਤੀ = ਨਾਲ। ਸੇਤੀ ਅਗਿ ਜਲਾਹਿ = ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਸੜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ; ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਤ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਦੇਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

Fareedkot Teekaਉਨ ਕਾ ਪਤੀ ਜੀਵੋਂ ਵਾ ਮਰਜਾਊ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਭਾਜ ਜਾਤੀ ਹੈਂ, ਭਾਵ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹੀ ਪਤੀ ਸੇ ਬਿਮੁਖ ਹੈਂ, ਓਹ ਸਤੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈਂ, ਵਹੁ ਚੌਥੀ ਨੀਚ ਹੈਂ। ੪ ਦਾਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ- ਉਪਦੇਸਾਰਬ ਐਸੇ ਕਰਨਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਨੋਂ ਨੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਆ ਹੈ ਵਹਿ ਸਤੀਆਂ ਹੈਂ। ਤਿਨੋਂ ਕੇ ਤੀਨ ਭੇਦ ਹੈਂ- ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਹ ਅਧਿਆਸ ਕੋ ਤਿਆਗਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ ਸੰਤ ਉਤਮ ਹੈਂ ੧, ਪੁਨਾ ਜੋ ਸੀਲ ਸੰਤੋਖਾਦਿ ਗੁਣੋਂ ਮੇਂ ਰਹਿ ਕਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸੇਵਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ ਮਧਮ ਸਤੀਆਂ ਵਤ ਸੰਤ ਹੈਂ ੨, ਔਰ ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੰਤ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਉਕਤਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਰਹਿਤ ਪੰਚਾਗਨਿ ਆਦਿਕ ਤਪ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਕੋ ਜਲਾਤੇ ਹੈਂ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਅਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਂ ਆਸਤਕ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨ ਹੋ ਤੌ ਕਿਉਂ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਰੇਂ, ਅਰ ਸੋ ਸਹਾਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੋ ਕਨਿਸਟ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹੈਂ। ਚੌਥੇ ਜੋ ਕੰਤ ਕੋ ਜਾਨਤੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੋ ਇਨ ਤੀਨੋਂ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਮੇਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈਂ, ਕੁਲਟਾ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਤ ਚਾਹੋ (ਜੀਵਉ) ਗਰਸਤੀ ਰਹੋ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮਰੋ, ਤਿਆਗੀ ਹੋਵੇ। ਦੂਰੋਂ ਭਾਗਨਾਂ, ਭਾਵ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੇ ਬਿਮੁਖ ਹੈਂ ਵਹੁ ਚੌਥੇ ਪਾਂਬਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੈਂ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਹਮ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਵਹੁ ਕਿਸੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਮੇਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਸਤੀਓਂ ਕੇ ਨਮਿਤ ਕਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਰਨਨ ਕੀਏ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੈ = ਭਾਵੇਂ। ਭਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਉ ਕੈ ਮਰਉ = ਚਾਹੇ ਜੀਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਮਰੇ, ਚਾਹੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋਵੇ! {ਜੀਵਉ, ਮਰਉ: ਹੁਕਮੀ ਭਵਿੱਖਤ ਅੱਨ ਪੁਰਖ, ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ; ਵੇਖੋ 'ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਆਕਰਣ'} ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੁਣੁ = (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਲਾਭ। ਉਪਕਾਰੁ = (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ) ਲਾਭ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰੇ, ਰੱਬ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਾਸਾ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ;

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ) ਪਾਸਾ ਜਿੱਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਭ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਣੈ = ਜਿੱਤਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਤ ਭਾਉ = ਚੰਗੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ, ਨੇਕ ਨੀਅਤ। ਦੇ = ਦੇ ਕੇ। ਤਰਫ = (ਰੱਬ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪਾਸਾ ॥੪॥
