Prof. Sahib Singhਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗਿਆਨੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥
