Fareedkot Teekaਇਹ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਕਥ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਾਵਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਆਪ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਬੋਲਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਤਿਸ ਕੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੰਭਾਲਤਾ, ਭਾਵ ਆਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰ, ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰਾ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ); ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਥੈ = (ਨਿਰਾ) ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਥਿ = ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਆਖ ਕੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਰਧਾ ਬੱਝਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ (ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦਿੜਤਾ = ਪਕਿਆਈ, ਯਕੀਨ। ਨਾਮਿ = ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ = (ਗੁਰੂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ (ਦਾ ਮੇਲ) ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤਕ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨੂੰ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ = ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ। ਜੀਉ = ਜਿੰਦ। ਪਿੰਡੁ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਸਾਬਤੁ = ਕਾਇਮ। ਤਬ ਲਗਿ = ਤਦੋਂ ਤਕ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਲਗੁ' ਅਤੇ 'ਲਗਿ' ਦਾ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ}। ਨ ਸਮਾਰੇ = ਨਹੀਂ ਸੰਭਾਲਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

Fareedkot Teeka(ਜਬ) ਜਿਸ ਸਮ੍ਯ ਕਾਲ ਰੂਪ ਅਗਨੀ (ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰਿ) ਸਰੀਰ ਕੋ ਆਇ ਲਾਗਤੀ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਏਹ ਜੀਵ (ਕਢਿ ਕੂਪੁ) ਕੂਆ ਨਿਕਾਲਤਾ ਹੈ। ਔਰ (ਕਢੈ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੇ) ਪਾਨੀ ਨਿਕਾਲਨਾ, ਭਾਵ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕੋ ਸਾਖ੍ਯਾਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਜਲ ਸਾਥ ਉਸ ਅਗਨੀ ਕੋ ਬੁਝਾਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਝਤੀ। ਇਸੀ ਤੇ ਤਿਸ ਅਗਨੀ ਕੋ ਬੁਝਾਵਨੇ ਅਰਥ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਭਜਨ ਰੂਪ ਕੂਆ ਚਾਹੀਏ॥੪॥
