ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਵੇ = ਨੌ ਹੀ। ਛਿਦ੍ਰ = ਛੇਕ, ਗੋਲਕਾਂ (ਕੰਨ, ਨੱਕ ਆਦਿਕ)। ਅਪਵੀਤ = ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ, ਗੰਦੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੇਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਪਦੇ। ਉਹ (ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ) ਉਲਟ (ਮੰਦੇ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ = ਉਲਟੀ ਰੀਤਿ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪਰ = ਪਰਾਈ। ਤ੍ਰਿਅ = ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ। ਰਮਹਿ = ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਬਕਹਿ = ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਰਨ = ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ। ਸੁਨਹੀ = ਸੁਨਹਿ, ਸੁਣਦੇ। ਬਿੰਦ = ਥੋੜਾ ਸਮਾ ਭੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਹੀਨ ਬੰਦੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਪੇਟ ਭਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਚੁਰਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹਿਰਹਿ = ਚੁਰਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰਦਰਬੁ = ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ {द्रव्य}। ਉਦਰ = ਪੇਟ। ਕੈ ਤਾਈ = ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਫੇਰ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਲਾਲਚ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਟਦੀ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਗਨਿ = ਲਾਲਚ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ। ਨਿਵਰੈ = ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਉੱਦਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਰ-ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਫਲ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਏਹ ਫਲ = {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਭਾਗ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿੱਤ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੯॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਰਿ = ਮਰ ਕੇ। ਜਮਹਿ = ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਭਾਗੇ = ਬਦ-ਨਸੀਬ, ਭਾਗ-ਹੀਣ ॥੯॥
