Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਦੋਧਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ।
Fareedkot Teekaਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੂਪ (ਉਮਰਥਲ) ਫੋੜਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋਈ (ਸੂਲੀਆ) ਦੁਖੋਂ ਕੋ ਜਾਨਤੇ ਹੈਂ। (ਉਮਰਥਲ) ਵਹੁ ਫੋੜਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪੀਠ ਪਰ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਕਾ ਗਦੋਂ ਧਾਣਾ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾ ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਸਥਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰ (ਉਮਰ) ਉਮਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸੋਈ ਤਿਨ ਦੁਖੋਂ ਕੋ ਜਾਣਤੇ ਹੈਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੱਦਹੁਧਾਣਾ ਫੋੜਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਉਮਰਥਲ = ਗੱਦਹੁਧਾਣਾ, ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਫੋੜਾ। ਸੂਲੀ = ਤ੍ਰਿੱਖੀ ਪੀੜ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਸੱਲ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ) ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਪਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ-ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਰਹੁ = ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਪਿਆਰ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੋਲੇ (ਭੀ, ਭਾਵ, ਸਰੀਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਚਲੂਲਾ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ। ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਭਿਨੀ = ਭਿੱਜੀ ਹੋਈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
