Sant Singh KhalsaO Nanak, worldly pleasures are nothing more than dust. They are the dust of the dust of ashes.
Manmohan SinghNanak, the worldly revelments are but dust, They are altogether dust of dust and ashes.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਲੀਆਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਲਿਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹਨ।
Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਤੇ ਹੈਂ: (ਦੁਨੀਆ) ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ (ਰੰਗੁ) ਅਨੰਦ ਤੀਨੋਂ ਕਾਲੋਂ ਮੇਂ ਭਸਮ ਰੂਪ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਨਿਕੰਮਾਂ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਸੁਆਹ (ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ) ਹੈ, ਨਿਰੀ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰੀ ਖੇਹ ਹੀ ਖੇਹ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਾਨਕ = ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਰੰਗੁ = ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ। ਭਸੁ = ਸੁਆਹ। ਭਸੂ ਹੂ ਭਸੁ = ਨਿਰੀ ਭੱਸ ਹੀ ਭੱਸ। ਖੇਹ = ਸੁਆਹ।

Fareedkot Teeka(ਭਸੋ ਭਸੁ) ਮਨ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਓਂ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਬਹੁੜੋ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਰੂਪੀ ਭਸਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ ਭਰੀਤੀ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ, ਮਾਨੋ,) ਖੇਹ ਹੀ ਖੇਹ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਇਹ ਖੇਹ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ) ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਖੇਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਲਿੱਬੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੇਹ = ਸਰੀਰ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਮਰਨ ਤੇ) ਜਦੋਂ ਜਿੰਦ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੁਆਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਲਿੱਬੜੀ ਹੋਈ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭਸੂ ਭਰਿਆ = ਸੁਆਹ ਨਾਲ ਲਿੱਬੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਾਇ = ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Fareedkot Teekaਅਗੇ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗਣੇ ਸੇ ਹੋਰ (ਦਸੂਣੀ) ਦਸ ਗੁਣੀ ਖੇਹ ਪੜਤੀ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਸੇ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਾਂ ਸੇ ਧਿਕਾਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਖੇਹ ਪੜਤੀ ਹੈ॥੨॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ) ਹੋਰ ਦਸ-ਗੁਣੀ ਵਧੀਕ ਸੁਆਹ (ਭਾਵ, ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਗੈ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ, ਮਰਨ ਪਿਛੋਂ। ਲੇਖੈ ਮੰਗਿਐ = (ਪੂਰਬ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਰਦੰਤਕ, Locative Absolute) ਜਦੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਦਸੂਣੀ = ਹੋਰ ਦਸ-ਗੁਣੀ (ਸੁਆਹ)। ਪਾਇ = ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
