ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਾਹਰਿ = (ਭਾਵ,) ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ। ਭਸਮ = ਸੁਆਹ। ਅੰਤਰਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਗੁਬਾਰੀ = ਹਨੇਰਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਬਾਹਰ) ਗੋਦੜੀ ਤੇ ਝੋਲੀ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਕਈ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਇਸ ਭੇਖ ਦਾ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਖਿੰਥਾ = ਗੋਦੜੀ, ਖ਼ਫ਼ਨੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਭਰਮੈ = ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਠੇਡੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗਾਵਾਰੀ = ਮੂਰਖ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਐਸਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਜੂਏ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ) ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
