ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਨਾਲ। ਇਕ ਮਨਿ = ਇਕ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ, ਇਕਾਗ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ। ਵੀਚਾਰਿ = (ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ, ਸੋਚ = ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਦ = ਸਦਾ। ਉਜਲੇ = ਸਾਫ਼, ਸੋਹਣੇ। ਤਿਤੁ = ਉਸ ਵਿਚ। ਤਿਤੁ ਸਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ = ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਨਮੁਖ = ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਜਾਣਨੀ = ਜਾਣਨਿ, ਜਾਣਦੇ। ਵਿਣੁ = ਬਿਨੁ। ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ = ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ। ਜਾਇ = ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਖ਼ਾਨਦਾਨ (ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੰਮਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਂ ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੁਲੁ = ਖ਼ਾਨਦਾਨ। ਧੰਨੁ = ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ। ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਇ = ਜੰਮਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਧਿਆਈਐ = ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਉ = ਨੂੰ। ਰਜਾਇ = ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਪੁ = ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ, ਹਉਮੈ। ਗਵਾਇ = ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਵਰਤਣ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਚਿ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ। ਸਮਾਇ = ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ।
