Prof. Sahib Singhਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਆਏ ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਮਿਤ੍ਰ! (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ) ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪਹਰ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵ) ਬਾਲਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਵਾਲਾ (ਅੰਞਾਣ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਾਲਕ ਬੁਧਿ = ਬਾਲਕ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵ। ਅਚੇਤੁ = ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ! (ਬਾਲ ਉਮਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਧ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਚਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਉਮਰੇ) ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ (ਬੜਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਖੀਰੁ = ਦੁੱਧ। ਸੁਤ ਹੇਤੁ = ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਹਿ = ਦਿਨ। ਨਿਸਿ = ਰਾਤ। ਕਾਮਿ = ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ। ਚਿਤਿ = ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਝੂਠੇ (ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਜੀਵ)! ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ, ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ) ਤੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਜਾਇਗਾ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਹੁਗੇ = ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਮਰਹੁਗੇ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਜਾਉਗੇ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਰਧਿ = ਬੁੱਢਾ। ਖੀਣੁ = ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ, ਲਿੱਸਾ।

Fareedkot Teekaਔਰ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਗੁਣ ਸੰਜਮਿ) ਸੁਭ ਗੁਣੋਂ ਕੇ ਸੰਜਮ ਸਹਿਤ, ਭਾਵ ਇਕਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਸੇ ਜਾਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ ਤਿਨ ਜਮਦੂਤੋਂ ਕੀ ਚੋਟਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਤੇ ਹੈਂ॥☬ਨਨੂ: ਜਿਨ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਵਰਗਾਦਿ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਪੁੰਨੋਂ ਕੇ ਖੀਣ ਹੋਣੇ ਸੇ ਵਹੁ ਭੀ ਤਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਗਰਾਏ ਜਾਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਪੁਨਃ ਅਧੋਗਤ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਤਬ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਚੋਟ ਸੇ ਕੈਸੇ ਬਚਤੇ ਹੈਂ?☬ਉੱਤਰੁ: ਪੂਰਬ ਕਹਿ ਆਏ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੋਂ ਕੋ ਮਿਲ ਕਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੋ ਪਛਾਣ ਸੋ ਜਿਸ ਨੈ ਸੁਭ ਗੁਣੋਂ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੋ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ, ਐਸੇ ਗੁਣਵੰਤ ਕੋ ਪੁਨਃ ਜਨਮ ਔ ਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਤਾ, ਵਾ ਜਿਸ ਕੋ ਸੁਭ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਜਮ ਤੋ ਹੈ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਅਤੀ ਯਥਾਰਥ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੂਆ, ਔਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਛੂਟ ਗ੍ਯਾ ਹੈ, ਤੋ ਵਹੁ ਭੀ ਸੁਖੋਂ ਕੋ ਭੋਗ ਕਰ ਫਿਰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਵਤਾ। ਯਹਿ ਗੀਤਾ ਕੇ ਖਸ੍ਟੇ ਅਧ੍ਯਾਯ ਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਿਧ ਹੈ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਉਸ ਵਲ ਤੱਕ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਡਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
