Manmohan SinghIn desire, there is very great pain. The wayward person attaches his mind to it.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਅੰਰਦ, ਨਿਹਾਇਤ ਹੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਸਾਂ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ) ਆਸਾਂ (ਚਿਤਵਨ) ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਤਿ ਘਣਾ = ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਕ। ਮਨਮੁਖਿ = ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਾਂਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗਿਰਹ = ਘਰ, ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ। ਵਿਚੇ = ਵਿਚ ਹੀ। ਅਲਿਪਤ = (ਅ-ਲਿਪਤ) ਜੋ ਲਿਪੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਨਿਰਾਲੇ, ਅਛੋਹ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਸੋ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਆ ਕੇ ਦਬਾਅ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ;ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ = (ਅੱਖਰ 'ਨ' ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਅੱਧਾ 'ਹ' ਹੈ)। ਸੋਗੁ = ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ, ਚਿੰਤਾ। ਵਿਜੋਗੁ = ਵਿਛੋੜਾ। ਨ ਵਿਆਪਈ = ਨਾਹ ਵਿਆਪੇ, ਦਬਾਅ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ। ਭਾਣਾ = ਰਜ਼ਾ। ਭਾਇਆ = ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਲੇ-ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੧॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ = ਰਲੇ-ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਧੁਰਿ = ਧੁਰੋਂ, ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ। ਸੇਤੀ = ਨਾਲ ॥੩੧॥
