Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜੋ) ਤਾਲੀਮ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੇ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਦਿੱਤੀ), (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬੇਦੀ = ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੇ। ਆਣੀ = ਲਿਆਂਦੀ। ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀ = (ਭਾਵ,) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਤਾਲੀਮ। ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ = ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਿ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ।

Fareedkot Teekaਦੇ ਦੇ ਕਰ ਅਬ ਲੈਣਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਰ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਆਗੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਨ ਕਰਮੋਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਨਰਕ ਮੇਂ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੱਥੋਂ) ਦੇ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਮੁੜ) ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ (ਅਗਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ) ਮੋੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂ ਸੁਰਗ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਲੈਣਾ = ਆਪ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੈ ਲੈ ਦੇਣਾ = ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੋੜਨਾ ਪਏਗਾ। ਨਰਕਿ = ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ। ਅਵਤਾਰ = ਜੰਮਣਾ, ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਣੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਿਆਂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਤੁ = ਅਸਲੀਅਤ, ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ। ਵਖਾਣੀ = ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ। ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚਿ = ਤੱਤ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਤੱਤ ਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਿਆਂ। ਆਈ = ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਈ; ਉਚਾਰੀ ਗਈ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੁਕਮ (-ਰੂਪ ਸੱਤਿਆ) ਸਾਜ ਕੇ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਵੇਖੈ = ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Sant Singh KhalsaO Nanak, if the mortal shatters his ego before he departs, as it is pre-ordained, then he is approved. ||1||

Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਜੇਕਰ ਜੀਵ ਕੀ (ਅਗਹੁ) ਮਰਣ ਕਾਲ ਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹੰਤਾ ਮਮਤਾ ਟੂਟਿ ਜਾਵੈ; ਵਾ ਜੋ ਹੰਤਾ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਾ ਪੜਦਾ ਅਗੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੂਆ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਜਬ ਟੂਟ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤੌ ਤਿਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਕੋ ਲੇਖੇ ਮੇਂ ਲਿਖੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਜਨਮ ਸਫਲਾ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਹਿਲਾਂ (ਜੀਵ ਦੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਗਹੁ = ਪਹਿਲਾਂ। ਕੋ = ਕੋਈ, ਜੀਵ। ਲਿਖੀਐ ਲੇਖੈ = ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
* ਨੋਟ: ਇਸ ਸਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਤਾਲੀਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਖੇੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ।
