Prof. Sahib Singhਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ (ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇਵ-ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੇ ਹਨ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗਣ = ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਕ ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੰਧਰਬ = ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਗੀ। ਨਾਮੇ = ਨਾਮਿ ਹੀ, ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ। ਉਧਰੇ = ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੇ। ਵੀਚਾਰਿ = ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਾਰਿ = ਮਾਰ ਕੇ। ਸਦ = ਸਦਾ। ਮੰਨਿ = ਮਨਿ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਉਰਿ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਜਿਸਹਿ = (ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ)। ਜਿਸ ਨੋ = (ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਨੋ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ)। ਆਪੇ = ਆਪ ਹੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੋਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ = ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੈ = ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਚਲਾਇ = ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੋਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥
