Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜ਼ਹਿਰੀਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦੇ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ) ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਾਨਿ = ਮੁਥਾਜੀ, ਸਹਿਮ। ਚੁਕਾਵੈ = ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਿਖੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜ਼ਹਿਰੀਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ॥੨॥

Sant Singh KhalsaSome are standing, parched and shrivelled up by their doubts; joining the Saadh Sangat, they are rejuvenated.
Manmohan SinghThey, who are parched by doubt are thoroughly dried up while standing. Meeting with the society of saints they blossom forth again.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਨੇ ਸਾੜ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ ਐਨ ਸੁਕ-ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Fareedkot Teekaਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਹਕਰਣ ਮੇਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਮ ਫੈਲੇ ਰਹੇ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ (ਉਭਿ ਸੁਕ) ਖੜਸੁਕ ਕਹੀਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਭਾਵ ਗੁਨ ਹੀਨ ਹੈਂ, ਵਹੁ ਭੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਮੇਂ ਮਿਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਹਰੀਜੈ) ਹਰੇ ਹੋਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਗੁਣੋਂ ਸਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਤੇ ਹੈਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਵਤ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਖੜੇ-ਖਲੋਤੇ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੁੱਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ) ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭਰਮਿ = ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਸੂਕੇ = ਸੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਉਭਿ ਸੁਕ = ਖੜੇ-ਖੜੋਤੇ ਸੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਰੁੱਖ। ਕਹੀਅਹਿ = ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰੀਜੈ = ਹਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਦੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ। (ਛੇਤੀ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਾ ਤੇ = ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ। ਬਿਲਮੁ (विलम्ब) ਦੇਰ। ਨ ਕੀਜੈ = ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਾਇ = ਜਾ ਕੇ ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਇਕ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਰਤਨ ਵਥੁ = ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ। ਰਖੀਜੈ = ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਇਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਚਨੁ ਗੁਰ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ। ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ = ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ। ਮਾਨੇ = ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ)। ਧਰੀਜੈ = ਧਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਧਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਛਕਾ = ਛੱਕਾ, ਛੇ (ਅਸ਼ਟਪਦੀਆਂ) ਦਾ ਇਕੱਠ ॥੮॥੬॥ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਮੈ = ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ। ਰਲੈ = ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਿਲੀਜੈ = ਮਿਲ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਛਕਾ = ਛੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗਰਹ ॥੮॥੬॥ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
