Fareedkot Teekaਏਕ ਕਾਲ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਪਲੰਘ ਪਰ ਬਿਰਾਜਮਾਨ ਥੇ ਅਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਜੀ ਬਾਲਕ ਥੇ। ਖੇਲਤੇ ਖੇਲਤੇ ਪਲੰਘ ਕੀ ਬਾਹੀ ਪਕੜ ਗੋਦ ਮੇਂ ਜਾਇ ਬੈਠੇ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਤਿ ਹਰਖਤਿ ਹੋ ਕੰਠ ਲਾਇ ਕਰ ਲਡਾਉਨੇ ਲਗੇ ਔਰ ਬੀਬੀ ਭਾਨੀ ਜੀ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਖੜੀ ਥੀ। ਤਬ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਖ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੂਈ 'ਬੀਬੀ ਇਹ ਦੋਹਤਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਾ ਬੋਹਥਾ ਹੋਗਾ ਔ ਬੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੋਗਾ'। ਬਰਦਾਨ ਸੁਨ ਬੀਬੀ ਜੀ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਭਈ। ਜਬ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਾ ਤਿਲਕ ਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਕੋ ਮਥਾ ਟੇਕਨੇ ਗਏ ਤਬ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਹਾ: ਬੇਟਾ ਆਜ ਕਿਆ ਬਸਤ ਖਟ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਏ ਹੋ? ਤਿਸ ਪਰਥਾਇ ਇਹ ਦੋ ਸਬਦ ਹੂਏ:

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਜਾਪ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਪਾਣਾ ਹੈ; ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਈ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਇਹ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਾਪ = ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਪ। ਤਾਪ = ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਤਪਾਣੀਆਂ। ਭਾਇਆ = ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾਂਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤੁਲਹਾ = ਲੱਕੜਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਨਦੀ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਗੱਠਾ। ਤਾਰਿ = ਤਾਰੇ, ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਾਨਾ = ਪਾਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ ਇਉਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ, (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ। ਨਵਨਿਧਿ = ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ। ਨਿਧਿ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ। ਨਵ = ਨੌ। ਹਾਥਿ ਚਰਿਓ = ਹੱਥ ਆ ਗਿਆ, ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ। ਥੋਕ = ਪਦਾਰਥ ॥੩॥

Fareedkot Teekaਅਬ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਆਪ ਖਾਤਾ ਹੂੰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਜਪਤਾ ਹੂੰ ਔਰੁ ਖਰਚਤਾ ਹੂੰ ਔਰੁ ਕੋ ਜਪਾਤਾ ਹੂੰ। ਕਿਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਸੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵਤਾ ਹੈ। ਔਰ ਯਹ ਧਨ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਕੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਸੰਗ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ) ਇਹ ਧਨ ਆਪ ਵਰਤੋ, ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਵਰਤਾਵੋ; ਇਹ ਧਨ ਕਦੇ ਘਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ; ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤੋਟਿ = ਕਮੀ। ਹਲਤ = ਇਹ ਲੋਕ। ਪਲਤ = ਪਰਲੋਕ।
