ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਚਲਤ = ਤੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਫਿਰਦਿਆਂ। ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼। ਰਿਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭਜੁ = ਜਾ ਪਉ। ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ। ਭਾਵ ਸਾਗਰ = ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜੀਉ = ਜਿੰਦ। ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ = ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ, ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ। ਨਿਵਾਰਿ = ਦੂਰ ਕਰ।
