ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਜਮਾਲਿਆ = ਕੋਹੜੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਗੋਦੇ = ਪਹਿਲਾਂ। ਸਤੈ ਦੀ = ਆਦਰ ਦੀ। ਆਣਿ = ਲਿਆ ਕੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਨਗਰ ਦੇ) ਮੁਖੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੱਸਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ (ਤੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ) ਇਹ ਤਪਾ ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਗਲਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।

Sant Singh KhalsaIf he sees only a little wealth, he does not bother to go there; but when he sees a lot of wealth, the penitent forsakes his vows.

Fareedkot Teekaਜਹਾਂ ਥੋੜਾ ਧਨ ਦੇਖਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮੇਂ ਤਪਾ (ਭਿਟੈ) ਛੁਹਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬਹੁਤਾ ਧਨ ਦੇਖ ਕਰ ਤਪੇ ਨੇ ਧਰਮ ਹਾਰ ਦੀਆ। ਬਿਨਾ ਨਿਉਤੇ ਆਵਣਾ ਧਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਤਪੇ ਨੇ ਹਾਰ ਦੀਆ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿੱਥੇ ਥੋਹੜਾ ਧਨ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਥੇ ਤਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਛੋਂਹਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਧਨ ਵੇਖਿਆਂ (ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਤਪੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਰਮ ਹਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ) ਕਿ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ (ਸੱਚਾ) ਤਪਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਬਗੁਲਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਪਖੰਡੀ) ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਤਪਾ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮੁਰਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਏਤੁ ਦੋਖੈ = ਇਸ ਐਬ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਦਯਿ = ਖਸਮ ਨੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਵੇਖੋ! ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੀ (ਹੁਣ ਤਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਸਾਰੀ ਘਾਲ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Fareedkot Teekaਬਾਹਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਜਨੋਂ ਮੇਂ ਬੈਠ ਕਰ ਤਪਾ ਕਹਾਵਤਾ ਹੈ॥ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੈਠ ਕਰ ਤਪਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵਤਾ ਹੈ॥ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਪਾਪ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਰਸ਼ੋਂ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਖਾਇ ਦੀਆ ਹੈ; ਭਾਵ ਪਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਗਵਨ ਕਰ ਰਹਾ ਥਾ, ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਲੀਆ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਬਾਹਰ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤਪਾ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਤਪਾ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਤਪੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ (ਲੁਕਵਾਂ) ਪਾਪ ਪੰਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Fareedkot Teekaਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੇ ਜਮਦੂਤੋਂ ਕੋ ਕਹ ਛੋਡਾ ਹੈ, ਏਸ ਤਪੇ ਕੋ ਤਿਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮੇਂ (ਖੜਿ) ਲੈਜਾਇ ਕਰ ਪਾਈਓ ਜਿਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮੇਂ ਮਹਾਂ ਹਤਿਆਰੋਂ ਸੇ ਅਤਿ ਹਤਿਆਰੇ ਹੈਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਿਥੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਾਪੀ (ਪਾਈਦੇ ਹਨ)।
