ਕਾਮ ਹੇਤਿ. ਕੁੰਚਰੁ ਲੈ ਫਾਂਕਿਓ; ਓਹੁ ਪਰ ਵਸਿ ਭਇਓ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥

Sant Singh KhalsaLured by sexual desire, the elephant is trapped; the poor beast falls into the power of another.

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਭੋਗ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਕਾਰਨ, ਹਾਥੀ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹਾਥੀ ਫਸ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਪਰ-ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਾਮਿ ਹੇਤਿ = ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ। ਕੁੰਚਰੁ = ਹਾਥੀ। ਫਾਂਕਿਓ = ਫੜਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਓਹੁ = ਉਹ ਹਾਥੀ। ਵਸਿ = ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ।

SikhNet (Spanish)El elefante es engañado por su lujuria que lo lleva a la esclavitud, y así es conducido y guiado por otro;

ਨਾਦ ਹੇਤਿ. ਸਿਰੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਕੁਰੰਕਾ; ਉਸ ਹੀ ਹੇਤ ਬਿਦਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

Sant Singh KhalsaLured by the sound of the hunter's bell, the deer offers its head; because of this enticement, it is killed. ||2||

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਹਰਨ, ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਘੰਡੇ ਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੀਸ ਭੇਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teekaਜੈਸੇ ਨਾਦ ਘੰਟਾ ਹੇੜੇ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਵਰ ਕੇ ਹੇਤੁ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਨੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਿਰ ਡਾਰ ਦੀਆ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੀਆ ਹੈ, ਵਹੁ ਉਸੀ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮੇਂ (ਬਿਦਾਰਾ) ਨਸਟ ਹੂਆ ਹੈ॥੨॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ) ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਾਦ ਹੇਤਿ = (ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ) ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ। ਕੁਰੰਕਾ = ਹਰਨ। ਬਿਦਾਰਾ = ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਪਰਵਾਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੇਖਿ = ਦੇਖ ਕੇ। ਕੁਟੰਬੁ = ਪਰਵਾਰ। ਲੋਭਿ = ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ। ਲਪਟਾਨਾ = ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਅਤਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਅਪੁਨਾ; ਉਨਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਰਾਪਰ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੩॥

at rachio kar leeno apunaa; un chhodd saraapar jaanaa |3|

Sant Singh KhalsaTotally engrossed in worldly things, he considers them to be his own; but in the end, he shall surely have to leave them behind. ||3||

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਖੱਚਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸਿਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teekaਤਿਸ ਮੇਂ ਅਤਿਸੈ ਕਰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੂਆ ਹੈ ਇਸਬਨੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਲੀਨਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਉਸ ਮਾਯਾ ਵਾ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਕੋ ਵਾ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਕੋ (ਸਰਾਪਰ) ਅਵਸ ਹੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ॥੩॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਤਿ ਰਚਿਓ = (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨਿ = ਉਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ। ਸਰਾਪਰ = ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ॥੩॥

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ. ਅਵਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹਾ; ਓਹੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ॥

Sant Singh KhalsaKnow it well, that anyone who loves any other than God, shall be miserable forever.

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਯਕੀਨ ਜਾਣੋ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ = ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ। ਬਾਸਨ = ਵਾਸਨਾ। ਦੇ ਕਰਿ = ਦੇ ਕੇ, ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ। ਗਡਹਾ = ਟੋਆ। ਗਾਡੀ = ਨੱਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪਸਾਰੁ = ਖਿਲਾਰਾ। ਭੀਤਰਿ = (ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ। ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ, ਤਿਸ ਕਾ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਕਾ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਸੋਈ = ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਹੀ। ਸੁਘੜੁ = ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਘਾੜਤ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸੁਜਾਨੀ = ਸਿਆਣਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ = ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ। ਏਕੈ ਹੀ ਪਹਿ = ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਹੀ। ਮਾਨੀ = ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ = ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਾਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਕੇ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਮੰਤਾਨੀ = ਮੰਤਰ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਓਇ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਓਹ' ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਓਇ ਬੀਚ = ਉਹ ਅੰਤਰੇ, ਉਹ ਵਿੱਥਾਂ, ਉਹ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ। ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਬੀਚ = ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਸੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ, ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ। ਬਿਲਾਨੀ = ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
