ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹੈ ਮੈਲੀ; ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ. ਭਵਜਲਿ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥

ahanbudh duramat hai mailee; bin gur. bhavajal feraa |3|

Sant Singh KhalsaThey are proud and arrogant, evil-minded and filthy; without the Guru, they are reincarnated into the terrifying world-ocean. ||3||
Manmohan SinghThey are arrogantly minded, their understanding is evil and filthy, and without the Guru, they continue coming and going into this terrible world-ocean.

Fareedkot Teeka(ਅਹੰ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ ਜੀਵੋਂ ਕੀ ਬੁਧੀ ਮੈਲੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਨ ਦੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਗੁਰ੍ਯੋਂ ਕਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮੇਂ ਫੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਯਿਹ ਕੇ ਜਨਮਤੇ ਮਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ॥੩॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਖੋਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਮੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ = ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਦੁਰਮਤਿ = ਖੋਟੀ ਮੱਤ। ਭਵਜਲਿ = ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ॥੩॥

Sant Singh KhalsaThrough burnt offerings, charitable feasts, ritualistic chants, penance, all sorts of austere self-discipline and pilgrimages to sacred shrines and rivers, they do not find God.

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੋਮ, ਜੱਗ, ਜਪ-ਤਪ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਕਿਸੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ (ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਸੰਜਮ = ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ। ਤਟਿ = (ਨਦੀ ਦੇ) ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ। ਤੀਰਥਿ = ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ।

SikhNet (Spanish)Por medio de la Yagna, del control mental, de recitar en forma mecánica, de maceraciones, de la visita a lugares de peregrinaje a las orillas de ríos, no se obtiene a Dios.

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪॥

Sant Singh KhalsaI have seen Him in the woods, and I have seen Him in the fields. I have seen Him in the household, and in renunciation.

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਨ ਮਹਿ = ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ। ਤ੍ਰਿਣ = ਘਾਹ ਦਾ ਤੀਲਾ, ਬਨਸਪਤੀ। ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ = ਘਰ ਵਿਚ। ਉਦਾਸਾਏ = ਘਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਦਾਸ ਤਿਆਗੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਊਭ = ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ। ਪਇਆਲ = ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ। ਪੂਰਨ = ਵਿਆਪਕ। ਰਸਿ = ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ। ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ = ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ। ਗਾਏ = ਗਾਇ, ਗਾ ਕੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਿਲਿ = ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਵਖਾਨਹਿ = ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤਉ = ਤਦੋਂ, ਤਾਂ। ਕਹਉ = ਕਹਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਆਖਾਂ। ਕਿਸ ਤੇ = {ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਤੇ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਕਿਸੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ} ਕਿਸ ਤੋਂ? ਦੁਰਾਏ = ਦੂਰ, ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੩॥
