Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਤੁੱਲ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਚੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ; ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ; (ਉਹ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ) ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਆਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹਉ = ਹਉਂ, ਮੈਂ। ਜਿਨਿ = ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ)।

ਜਗਤੁ ਮੁਸੈ. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਲੁਟੀਐ; ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੂਝ. ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥

Sant Singh KhalsaThe world has been deceived, and the Ambrosial Nectar is being plundered. The self-willed manmukh does not realize this.
Manmohan SinghThe world is being beguiled and the Nectar is being plundered, but the egocentric understands it not.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਸੰਸਾਰ ਠੱਗਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਲੁਧਿਆ ਖਸੁਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਮਨਮਤੀਆਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
Fareedkot Teekaਜਗਤੁ ਠਗਿਆ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰੂਪ ਸ੍ਵਾਸ ਲੁਟੀਤੇ ਜਾਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਮਨਮੁਖੋਂ ਕੋ ਬੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜਤੀ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਜਗਤ ਠੱਗਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲੁਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ। ਮਨਮੁਖ = ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਮੁਸੈ = ਠੱਗਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਬੂਝ = ਸਮਝ।

Sant Singh KhalsaWithout the Name, nothing will go along with him; he wastes his life, and departs.
Manmohan SinghWithout the Name, nothing shall go with him and he shall depart, after wasting his life.

Prof. Sahib Singhਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਇਗੀ (ਸੋ, 'ਨਾਮ' ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਜਾਇਗਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਾਸੀ = ਜਾਇਗਾ।

SikhNet (Spanish)Sin el Nombre nada se irá con él. Sólo desperdicia su vida y parte. Quienes siguen la Enseñanza del Guru permanecen Despiertos y Conscientes,

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਜਾਗੇ. ਤਿਨੑੀ ਘਰੁ ਰਖਿਆ; ਦੂਤਾ ਕਾ ਕਿਛੁ. ਨ ਵਸਾਇ ॥੮॥

guramatee jaage. tinaee ghar rakhiaa; dootaa kaa kichh. na vasaae |8|

Sant Singh KhalsaThose who follow the Guru's Teachings and remain awake and aware, preserve and protect the home of their heart; demons have no power against them. ||8||
Manmohan SinghThey who remain awake, by the Guru's instruction, keep their home intact and the demons become helpless.

Fareedkot Teekaਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਕਰ ਜਾਗੇ ਹੈਂ ਤਿਨੋਂ ਨੇ (ਘਰੁ) ਅੰਤਹਕਰਣ ਰਖਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਸੁਭ ਗੁਣੋਂ ਕੋ ਰਖਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਦੂਤੋਂ ਕਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕੋਂ ਕਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਵਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਤਾ॥੮॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੂਤਾਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਦਾ ॥੮॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਪਪੀਹੇ! ਨਾਹ ਵਿਲਕ, ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਨਾਹ ਤਰਸਾ ਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ)।

Sant Singh Khalsaand your thirst shall be quenched. Your love for Him shall increase four-fold. ||1||
Manmohan SinghObey thou thy Lord's command. Nanak by submitting to His will, m thy thirst shall be quenched and thou shalt have fourfold love for Him,
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰ। ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁਝ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਰ ਗੁਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣੇ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਭੋਗ ਇਛਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਔਰ ਚੌਗਣਾ ਰੰਗ ਚੜੇਗਾ, ਭਾਵ ਚੌਥੀ ਭੂਮਕਾ ਕਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ॥੧॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਟੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਮਿਟਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਚੌਗੁਣਾ ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਖਿੜਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਿਖ = ਤ੍ਰੇਹ। ਚਵਗਲਿ = ਚਾਰ ਗੁਣਾਂ। ਵੰਨੁ = ਰੰਗ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜੁਗ ਛਤੀਹ = (ਭਾਵ,) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੁਗ। ਗੁਬਾਰੁ = ਹਨੇਰਾ। ਤਿਸ ਹੀ = (ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ) ਉਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੂੰ ਹੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਸੋ, ਇਸ ਅਗਨਿ, ਵਾਦੁ, ਭੁੱਖ, ਤ੍ਰੇਹ, ਕਾਲ ਆਦਿਕ ਬਾਰੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸ ਫ਼ਰਿਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਕੈ ਸਿਉ = ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ? ਪੁਕਾਰ = ਫ਼ਰੀਆਦ।

Fareedkot Teekaਜੋ ਤਿਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕੋ ਭਾਵਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋਈ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੇਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਐਸੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਏ ਥਾ, ਜੋ ਐਸੇ ਕਲਪਣਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ (ਗਾਵਾਰੁ) ਮੂਰਖ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਮੂਰਖ ਜੀਵ (ਐਵੇਂ ਹੀ) ਹੈਂਕੜ ਵਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ = ਮੂਰਖ। ਥੀਐ = ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੈ = ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅਗਨਿ ਭੁੱਖ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਬਚੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ। (ਨੋਟ: ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਆਪਿ' ਤੇ 'ਆਪੁ' ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਸਮਝਣ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।
