ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਧੁਰਾਹੁ = ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ। ਮਰਣੁ = ਮੌਤ, ਮਰਣਾ। ਰੋਈਐ = ਰੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜੀਵਣਿ ਮਰਣਿ = ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਲੀਨ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੇ (ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਇਕ ਹੋਏ ਰਹੇ) ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੪॥
ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਚੇ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ। ਸਚਿ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੪॥
* ਨੋਟ: ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੮ ਕੇ ਕਾਫੀ-ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਕੇ' ਪੁਲਿੰਗ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਕਾਫੀ' 'ਕਾਫ਼ੀਆਂ' ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ 'ਕੇ' ਦੇ ਥਾਂ 'ਕੀਆਂ' ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਸੋ, 'ਕਾਫੀ' ਰਾਗ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ। ਆਸਾ ਘਰ ਅਠਵੇਂ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਗ ਕਾਫੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਗਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ।
