ਤੂ ਵਡ ਦਾਤਾ. ਤੂ ਵਡ ਦਾਨਾ; ਅਉਰੁ. ਨਹੀ ਕੋ ਦੂਜਾ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਤੋਂ) ਵੱਡਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਤੋਂ) ਵੱਡਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ (ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਮਰਥੁ = ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ। ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ = ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ? ॥੩॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਬੜਾ ਔਖਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਹਲੁ = ਟਿਕਾਣਾ। ਅਗੋਚਰੁ = {ਅ-ਗੋ-ਚਰੁ। ਗੋ = ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ}। ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ। ਬਿਖਮੁ = ਔਖਾ। ਭਾਣਾ = ਰਜ਼ਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਤਾਹੀਏਂ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂਲੁ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਓਪਤਿ = ਉਤਪੱਤੀ। ਪਰਲਉ = ਨਾਸ। ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ। ਹਰਿ ਜਨੀ = ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ = ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ। ਰਾਤੇ = ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ। ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ = ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਹੱਲੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੇ = ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਗਨੀ = ਗਨੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਗਿਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੰਪਤਿ = ਧਨ। ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਕੀ = ਉਹ ਧਨ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਖਿ = ਵੇਖ ਕੇ। ਕਹਾ = ਕਿੱਥੇ? ਕਿਉਂ? ਐਡਾਨੋ = ਆਕੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਹੇ ਮਾਂ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੰਪੈ = ਧਨ। ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀ ਸੰਪੈ = ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਨ। ਕੋਊ = ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ॥੩॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਨੁ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਬਿਨਸੈ = ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਮ ਸਿਉ = ਜਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ। ਕਾਮੁ = ਕੰਮ, ਵਾਹ, ਵਾਸਤਾ। ਪਰੇ = ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
