ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ; ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sagal padaarath simaran jaa kai; aatth pehar mere man jaap |1| rahaau |

Sant Singh KhalsaAll wealth and treasures are obtained by remembering Him in meditation; twenty-four hours a day, O my mind, meditate on Him. ||1||Pause||

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਗਲ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ = ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਮਨ = ਹੇ ਮਨ! ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਜਲ) ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ। ਪੀਵੈ = ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ {ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ}। ਤਿਸ ਹੀ = {ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ (ੁ) ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸ = ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਗਾਂਹ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੋਈ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ = ਪਾਪ। ਨਾਸਹਿ = {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ} ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਗੈ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਖਲਾਸ = ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੋਈ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਈਤ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਊਤ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਸਹਾਈ = ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ। ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ = ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ)। ਕਾਮ ਕਉ = ਕੰਮ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ-ਇਹ ਹੀ ਪੀਣਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨੋਹਰ = ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ। ਇਹੈ = ਇਹ ਹੀ। ਅਘਾਵਨ ਕਉ = ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ। ਪਾਂਨ = ਪੀਣਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਾਰਗਿ = ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ। ਸਿਉ = ਨਾਲ। ਗੋਸਟਿ = ਬਹਿਣ-ਖਲੋਣ, ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰਾ। ਸੇ = ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਤਰੇ = ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ।

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਇਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੩॥
