ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਾ ਕਾ = ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦਾ। ਰਾਪੈ = ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਪਰਾਏ ਧਨ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਐਬ ਪਾਪ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪਰ ਧਨ = ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ। ਦੋਖ = ਐਬ। ਫੇੜੇ = ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਖਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ = ਰੱਜ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ। ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ = ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ। ਬਸਤ੍ਰ = ਕੱਪੜੇ। ਓਢਾਏ = ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ = ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿੱਥ ਦੇ; ਹਰ ਥਾਂ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ। ਘਟ ਹੀ = ਘਟਿ ਹੀ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਘਟਿ' ਦੀ 'ਿ' ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਈ ਹੈ}। ਭਾਈ = ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ) ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਸਮਝੋ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭੀਤਰਿ = (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ। ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਪਾ = ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ, ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ। ਬਿਨੁ ਚੀਨੈ = ਪਰਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ। ਭ੍ਰਮ = ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਕਾਈ = ਹਰੇ ਰੰਗ ਦਾ ਜਾਲਾ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਚਿਰ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਰਹੇ। ਇਸ ਜਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਜਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ ॥੨॥੧॥
