ਖੁੰਢਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਖਿ ਕੈ; ਦੇਨਿ. ਸੁ ਮਲ ਸਜਾਇ ॥

Sant Singh Khalsaand then, it is placed between the wooden rollers and crushed.

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਘੁਲ੍ਹਾੜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੋਗੜਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀੜਦੇ ਤੇ ਡੰਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Fareedkot Teeka(ਖੁੰਢਾ) ਵੇਲਣਿਆਂ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਰਾਖ ਕਰ ਮਲ ਕਰਕੇ, ਵਾ ਪਹਲਵਾਨੋਂ ਵਤ ਜੋ ਪੁਰਸ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ ਸਜਾਇ ਦੇਤੇ ਹੈਂ, ਭਾਵ ਪੀੜਤੇ ਹੈਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਫਿਰ ਵੇਲਣੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੱਠਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਭਲਵਾਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਜ਼ਿਮੀਦਾਰ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਪੀੜਦੇ ਹਨ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਖੁੰਢਾ = ਵੇਲਣੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੱਠਾਂ। ਮਲ = ਮੱਲ, ਭਲਵਾਨ।

Fareedkot Teekaਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਰਸ (ਕਸੁ) ਖੈਂਚ ਕਰ (ਟਟਰਿ) ਕੜਾਹੇ ਮੇਂ ਪਾਈਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਟੱਟਰ ਕਿਸੀ ਦੇਸ ਮੇਂ ਕੜਾਹੇ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ) ਤਿਸ ਮੇਂ ਪੜ ਕਰ ਤਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਸੂੰ ਸੂੰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ। ਰੁਦਨ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਸਾਰੀ ਰਹੁ ਕੜਾਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸੇਕ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਰਹੁ) ਕੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਵਿਲਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਰਸੁ ਕਸੁ = ਕੱਢੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹੁ। ਟਟਰਿ = ਕੜਾਹੇ ਵਿਚ।

Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਮਿਠੇ ਕਾ (ਪਤਰੀਐ) ਪਤਿਆਵਾ ਵਾ ਜੋ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੋਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਵਾ ਜੈਸੀ ਪਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਜੈਸੀ ਕਮਾਦ ਕੀ ਬੇਇਜਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਆਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਖੋ॥☬ਦ੍ਰਿਸ੍ਟਾਂਤ- ਜੋ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਕੋ ਮਿਠਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪਯਾਰਾ ਭਾਸਤਾ ਥਾ, ਸੋ ਜਮਦੂਤੋਂ ਨੇ (ਕਟਿਆ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣੋਂ ਕਾ ਵਿਜੋਗ ਕੀਆ, ਕਾਟ ਕਰ ਪਾਪੀ ਜੀਵ ਕੋ ਬੰਧ ਲੀਆ, ਕਠਿਨ ਸਥਾਨੋਂ ਮੇਂ ਰਾਖ ਕਰ ਮਲ ਜੋ ਬਲੀ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਸੋ ਸਜਾਇ ਦੇਤੇ ਹੈਂ। ਰਸ ਰੂਪ ਜੋ ਲਿੰਗ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, ਸੋ (ਕਸੁ) ਤਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਟਟਰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਤਪਤ ਕੜਾਹਿਓਂ ਮੇਂ ਪਾਈਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਕੜਾਹੇ ਤਪਤੇ ਹੈਂ। ਪੁਨਃ ਤਬ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪੁਨਾ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ (ਫੋਗੁ) ਅਸਾਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਕੋ ਸਮਾਲ ਲੇਤੇ ਹੈਂ ਔਰ ਅਗਨੀ ਮੇਂ ਜਲਾ ਦੇਤੇ ਹੈਂ। ਦਬਾਉਣੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਬਾ ਦੇਤੇ ਹੈਂ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਮਿਠੇ ਇੱਖ ਵਤ ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮੇਂ ਪਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਥਾ ਵਾ ਜੈਸੀ ਇੱਜਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਥਾ। ਵਾ ਜੈਸੀ ਇਜਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਸੇ ਬੇਇੱਜਤ ਹੂਆ। ਵਾ ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਪਤਿਆਵਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ, ਭਾਵ ਏਹਿ ਕਿ ਤੁਮ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਵੋਂ ਕਾ ਹਾਲ ਸਮਝ ਲੇਵੋ॥੨॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਆ ਕੇ (ਗੰਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ) ਵੇਖੋ, ਮਿੱਠੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਗੰਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ) ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਿਠੈ = ਮਿੱਠੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ। ਪਤਰੀਐ = ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ {ਸੰ: ਪ੍ਰ-ਤ੍ਰੀ, ਇਸ ਧਾਤੂ ਤੋਂ 'ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾਰਥਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ' ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ 'ਪ੍ਰਤਾਰੀਯ' ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਹੈ 'ਪਤਾਰਨਾ'। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ 'ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ, ਬਦਨਾਮ ਕਰਨਾ, ਧੋਖਾ ਦੇਣਾ।' ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਪਤਾਰੀਐ' 'ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਹੈ। 'ਮਿਠੈ ਪਤਰੀਐ' ਦਾ ਅਰਥ 'ਮਿੱਠੇ ਪਤਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ' ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹੈ, ਗੰਨੇ ਦੇ ਪਤਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮਿਠਾਸ ਤਾਂ ਗੰਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਪੱਤਰ (ਛੋਈ) ਤਾਂ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦੇਈਏ ਹਨ। ਵੇਖੋ 'ਕਉਨੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਤਰਿਆ', ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਮ: ੫ ॥੨॥

* ਨੋਟ: ਇਥੇ ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਨੇ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਲੋਕ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ "ਮਿਠੈ ਪਤਰੀਐ" ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਪਉੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਰ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਮਝਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨੇਕ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
