ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ = ਪਪੀਹਾ। ਚਿਤਵਤ = ਚਿਤਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਰਸਤ ਮੇਂਹ = (ਕਿ) ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ, ਮੀਂਹ ਦਾ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਿੰਧੁ = ਸਮੁੰਦਰ। ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧੁ = ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ! ਕਰੁਣਾ = ਤਰਸ, ਦਇਆ। ਕੌ = ਦਾ। ਨੇਂਹ = ਪ੍ਰੇਮ, ਲਗਨ, ਸ਼ੌਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Fareedkot Teekaਪੁਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਔਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਸੁਖੋਂ ਕੋ ਚਕਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਦੇਹ) ਸੂਰਜ ਕੌ ਦੇਖ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਨੰਦ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਚਕਵੀ (ਹੋਰ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੁਖ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਦੀ, ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਚਾਹਤ = ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ। ਅਨਦ = ਆਨੰਦ, ਸੁਖ। ਪੇਖਿ = ਵੇਖ ਕੇ। ਦੇਂਹ = ਦਿਨ।

Sant Singh KhalsaThe fish cannot survive any other way - without water, it dies. ||1||

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਛੀ ਜੀਉਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ। ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਉਪਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਮੱਛੀ ਜੀਊਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ, ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਨ = {अन्य} ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ। ਮੀਨਾ = ਮੱਛੀ। ਤੇਂਹ = ਉਸ ਦਾ। ਮਰਨਾ = ਮੌਤ ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ) ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੦॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਠਗਉਰੀ = ਠਗ-ਮੂਰੀ, ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ, ਉਹ ਬੂਟੀ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਠੱਗ ਓਭੜ ਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਉ = ਨੂੰ। ਪੀਅਉ = ਪੀ ਲਿਆ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕੋਟਿ = ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ। ਬਿਘਨ = ਔਕੜਾਂ, ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ। ਬਿਨਸਹਿ = ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਿਹਚਲੁ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਧਾਮ = ਘਰ, ਟਿਕਾਣਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ, ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਭੁਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਸ = ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ। ਜਸੁ = ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ। ਕੋ = ਦਾ।
