Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾਏਂਗਾ, ਉਥੇ ਉਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਪੈਣਗੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਾਕਤ = ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜੇ ਜੀਵ।

Fareedkot Teekaਜੋ ਜੀਵ (ਕਰਮਰਤ) ਕਰਮੋਂ ਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਹਉਹਉ) ਮੈਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਕਾ (ਅਫਾਰ) ਅਸਹਿ ਵਾ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਭਾਰ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਸੇ ਨੀਚ ਜੂਨੀਓਂ ਮੇਂ ਭਟਕਤੇ ਹੈਂ। ਜੇਕਰ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਤਬ ਕਰਮ ਭੀ ਸਫਲੇ ਹੋਵੇਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਤੀਰਥ, ਦਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ) ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ (ਇਹ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਦਾ) ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਭੀ ਅਸਹਿ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਰਮ ਰਤ = ਪੁੰਨ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ, ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡੀ। ਅਫਾਰ = ਨਾਹ ਝੱਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਬਹੁਤ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕਰਮ ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਮਿੱਠੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ) ਜਮ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

Sant Singh KhalsaWhen their accounts are called for, they shall not be released; their wall of mud cannot be washed clean.
Manmohan SinghThey shall not be acquitted when their accounts are gone into. The mud wall can never be neat and tidy.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੱਤਾ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ। ਕੱਚੀ ਕੰਧ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
Fareedkot Teekaਕਰਮੋਂ ਕੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਕੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰਨੇ ਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੂਟੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਚੀ ਕੰਧ ਜਲ ਸੇ ਧੋਣੇ ਕਰ ਕਬੀ ਸੁਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਤੀ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵ ਏਹ ਕਿ ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਸਕਾਮ ਕਰਮੋਂ ਕੇ ਕਰਨੇ ਕਰ ਬੁਧੀ ਸੁਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਤੀ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਇਤਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਬਰੀਅਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, (ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਤਿਆਂ) ਗਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਦੀ ਸਫ਼ਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ (ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਗਾਰਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਜਾਇਗਾ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭੀਤਿ = ਕੰਧ। ਸੁਧਿ = ਸਫ਼ਾਈ, ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ।

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ; ਤਿਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬੁਧਿ ॥੯॥

jiseh bujhaae naanakaa; tih guramukh niramal budh |9|

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੯॥

Sant Singh KhalsaOne whose bonds are cut away joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

Fareedkot Teeka(ਜਾਸੁ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਪੁਰਸ ਕੇ ਤਾਂਈ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਹੂਆ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਅਗ੍ਯਾਨਾਦੀ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੂਟ ਗਏ ਹੈਂ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟਣ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਾਸੁ ਕੇ = ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਜੋ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਰੰਗ ਐਸਾ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਮਜੀਠ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਂਗ ਕਦੇ ਉਤਰਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ) ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੂੜਾ ਰੰਗ = ਪੱਕਾ (ਮਜੀਠੀ) ਰੰਗ (ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ) ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰੱਖਿਅਕ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਸਮਝੋ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਲਾਲ = ਪਿਆਰਾ। ਗੋਪਾਲ = ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਕ। ਗਹਿਰ = ਡੂੰਘਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਗੰਭੀਰ = ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ।
