ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟੈ. ਜਮ ਪੰਥ ਕੀ; ਜਾਸੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

traas mittai. jam panth kee; jaas basai man naau |

Sant Singh KhalsaOne whose heart is filled with the Name shall have no fear on the path of death.
Manmohan SinghHe in whose heart the Name abides shall have no fear on the road to death.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ = ਡਰ। ਪੰਥ = ਰਸਤਾ। ਜਾਸੁ ਮਨਿ = ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ।

ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ. ਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਮਹਲੀ; ਪਾਵਹਿ ਠਾਉ ॥

Fareedkot Teekaਔਰ ਉਤਮ ਗਤੀ ਕੌ ਪਾਵੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਮਨ ਮੇਂ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ, ਔਰ ਤਿਸ (ਮਹਲੀ) ਵਾਹਗੁਰੂ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਵਰੂਪ ਮੇਂ (ਠਾਉ) ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਪਾਵਹਿਗਾ, ਵਾ ਹੇ (ਮਹਲੀ) ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਰੂਪ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੈਂਗਾ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਤੇਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮਹਲੀ = ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ। ਠਾਉ = ਥਾਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਛੱਡ, ਧਨ, ਘਰ ਜੁਆਨੀ, ਰਾਜ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ;

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੁ) ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਾਤਾ = ਸਾੜਾ, ਕਲੇਸ਼।

Sant Singh KhalsaThey have grown weary, struggling in all sorts of ways; but they are not satisfied, and their thirst is not quenched.
Manmohan SinghThe perverse have grown weary by toiling in various ways. They are not appeased nor is their thirst quenched.

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਇਆ-ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਰੱਜਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ;

Prof. Sahib Singhਤੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਕਈ ਪਾਪੜ ਵੇਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਠੱਗੀਆਂ-ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬੰਚ = ਠੱਗੀ। ਬਲ ਛਲ = ਵਲ-ਛਲ, ਫ਼ਰੇਬ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਧਨ ਜੋੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, (ਧਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਥੱਕ-ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਧਾਵਤ = (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਤਉ = ਤਦੋਂ। ਬਾਸੁ = ਵਸੇਬਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਸੌਖੀ ਖੇਡ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਹੈ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਧਰ ਤੇ = ਧੁਰ ਤੋਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ। ਮਨਹਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਪਰਗਾਸੁ = ਚਾਨਣ, ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ। ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ = ਨੇੜੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਨਰਕੁ = ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ॥੧॥
