ਕਾਇਆ ਮਿਟੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ; ਪਉਣੈ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

Fareedkot Teekaਯੇਦ ਦੇਹ ਤੋ ਪੰਚ ਤਤ੍ਵ ਰਚਿਤ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾ ਰੂਪ ਅੰਧ, ਭਾਵ ਜੜ ਹੈ। ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੂਤੋਂ ਸੇ ਕਹਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੁਮ ਪਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਰੂਪ ਜੀਵ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਕਰ ਕਰਮੋਂ ਕਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਪੂਛਹੁ, ਤਬ ਜੀਵ ਦੂਤੋਂ ਕੇ ਪੂਛਣੇ ਸੇ ਉਤ੍ਰ ਕਹਤਾ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਸਰੀਰ ਤਾਂ ਗ੍ਯਾਨਹੀਣ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੈ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ਲੇਖਾ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਧੁ = ਗਿਆਨ-ਹੀਣ। ਪਉਣੈ = ਪਉਣ ਨੂੰ, ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ।

Fareedkot Teekaਮੈਂ ਤੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਹੂਆ ਹੂੰ। ਇਸੀ ਤੇ (ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰ), ਭਾਵ ਬਾਰੰਬਾਰ (ਆਵਾ ਜਾਇ), ਭਾਵ ਜਨਮਤਾ ਮਰਤਾ ਹੂੰ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ;

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ = ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ। ਆਵਾ ਜਾਇ = ਆਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਨਾਨਕ. ਹੁਕਮੁ, ਨ ਜਾਤੋ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ; ਜਿ ਰਹਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥

Fareedkot Teekaਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਨਿਆਂ। ਜੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨ ਜਾਨਤਾ ਤੌ ਸਚੇ ਪਤੀ ਸਾਥ (ਸਮਾਇ) ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਰਹਤਾ॥੧॥☬ਕਿਸੀ ਸਿਖ ਨੇ ਯਹ ਪੂਛਾ ਕਿ ਅਚਲ ਧਨ ਕੌਨ ਹੈ ਔ ਕਹਾਂ ਸੇ ਮਿਲਤਾ ਹੈ ਔ ਕਿਸਕੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਤਾ ਹੈ? ਤਿਸ ਪਰ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈਂ:

Prof. Sahib Singhਇਸ ਧਨ ਵਲ ਕੋਈ ਚੋਰ ਅੱਖ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕੋਈ ਗੰਢ-ਕੱਪ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਸਕਰੁ = ਚੋਰ। ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਈ = ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਓਚਕਾ = ਗੰਢ-ਕੱਪ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਇਹ ਧਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਭੇਟੈ = ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਭੇਟੈ ਗੁਰੂ = ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ)। ਭੇਟੈ ਗੁਰੁ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਆਕਰਣ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਭੇਟੈ' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਣ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ। ਸੋ, ਏਥੇ 'ਜੋ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ' ਅਰਥ ਕਰਨਾ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹੈ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ = (ਇਹ ਗੱਲ) ਸਮਝਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕਿ 'ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ' , ਵੇਖੋ ਪਉੜੀ ਨੰ: ੭)। ਫੇਰੁ = ਗੇੜ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਲੰਮਾ ਚੱਕਰ।
