ਬੂਝਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਣਾ; ਏਹ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗਿਆਨੀ = ਹੇ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ! ਬੂਝਣਾ = ਬੁਝਾਰਤ, ਡੂੰਘੀ ਗੱਲ। ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ = ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅਲਖੁ = ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ 'ਹਉਂ' ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਮੌਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਡਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੀ ਇਹੀ ਹਨ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਆਪੁ = ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ, ਹਉਮੈ। ਭ੍ਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ = ਜੰਮਣ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੌਤ ਤਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ, ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲਿਆਂ ਰੱਬ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਉੱਜਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ = ਉੱਜਲ ਬੁੱਧ ਵਾਲੇ।

Sant Singh KhalsaO Nanak, chant the chant of 'Sohang hansaa' - 'He is me, and I am Him.' The three worlds are absorbed in Him. ||1||

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਸੋ,) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, (ਵੇਖ!) ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਕੀ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ (ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੋਹੰ = (सोऽहं) ਉਹ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ। ਹੰਸਾ = (अहं सः) ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਹਾਂ। ਸੋਹੰ ਹੰਸਾ ਜਪੁ = ਉਹ ਜਪ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ 'ਉਹ ਮੈਂ' ਤੇ 'ਮੈਂ ਉਹ' ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ = ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ। ਜੁਗ = ਸਮਾ, ਪਹਿਰਾ। ਕਲ = ਕਲੇਸ਼, ਝਗੜੇ, ਵਿਕਾਰ। ਕਲਜੁਗ = ਜਿਥੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਰਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਦੁਤਰੁ = ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਨਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ। ਭਉਜਲੁ = ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ। ਬਿਖਮੁ = ਔਖਾ, ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਅੰਦਰੁ = ਅੰਦਰਲਾ, ਭਾਵ, ਮਨ {ਦੂਜੀ ਤੁਕ ਦੇ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਅੰਦਰਿ' ਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਣ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ}। ਅੰਦਰਿ = (ਮਨ) ਵਿਚ। ਅਹੰਮਤੇ = ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪੂਰਬਿ = ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ, ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ। ਜਿਨ ਕਉ = ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਪਤ੍ਰੀ = ਉਹ ਪੋਥੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਜਮਾਨ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਥਿੱਤਾਂ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਾਚਣੀ = ਪੜ੍ਹਨੀ।
